This Sunday, 25 October, the clocks go back. We explain what the body clock is, why the immune system also follows a rhythm, and how PLESINOX 3A fits into your day

In the early hours of Sunday, 25 October, the clocks go back by one hour. It will get dark earlier, the sun will rise earlier and, for a few days, our bodies will be adjusting to the new schedule. It is a good opportunity to talk about the clock we all have inside us.

What is the body clock?

Our bodies function according to cycles of approximately 24 hours, known as circadian rhythms. Sleep, body temperature and the release of certain hormones change throughout the day according to this pattern.

The conductor of this internal orchestra is a small group of neurons located in the hypothalamus. Its main cue for keeping time is light: morning light signals that the day is beginning.

The immune system also has its own rhythm

The immune system is a network of cells, tissues and organs that works continuously. However, it does not always work in exactly the same way: different immune processes, such as the number of certain immune cells circulating in the blood, vary over the course of 24 hours. In other words, the immune system is also synchronised with the body clock.

How to adapt to the clock change

Make the most of natural light in the morning · Keep regular times for going to bed, getting up and eating · Reduce screen time before bed · Avoid very large or late evening meals.

PLESINOX 3A, morning and evening

PLESINOX 3A is also taken in line with the rhythm of the day: 2 capsules daily, one in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner, with a little water or juice, or by opening the capsule and dissolving its contents.
